FIRST 2022 XC WORK PARTY WEEKEND – PERISHER, 5-6 FEBRUARY

XC WORK PARTIES - HOLIDAYS ARE OVER, TIME TO GET STUCK IN!

The XC trail network has been audited in detail and there is a maintenance plan that will keep any number of volunteers busy.  Nordic Shelter maintenance is also on the summer agenda with work to do to get it ready for a winter of real usage.

Note for winter 2022 – donations of two second-hand leather or vinyl upholstered sofas would be very welcome.

With visions of a more normal winter in mind, there is a lot to do this summer, starting with the first weekend in February.  If you can make it, please RSVP by emailing Peter Ward at nswxc1@gmail.com. Even if you can only make one day, this would be of great help.

Meet at the Nordic Shelter at 9:00am for a 9:30 start. Wear work clothes, sturdy boots and bring work gloves and gumboots – be prepared for any weather. Bring food, drink and snacks, and also your own plates, cutlery and cups. March flies are about, so be prepared. (note that, according to a march fly expert, march flies are apparently attracted by dark clothes but not light coloured clothes).

If you require accommodation for the weekend this is available gratis, thanks to Canberra Alpine Club (CAC). Please contact Peter Cunningham at peter.petercunningham@gmail.com to book a bed. Bring bed linen, towels and food/drink for self-catering.

EXTRA SPECIAL BRIDGE BUILDING WORK PARTY – 7-11 FEBRUARY

If the material is delivered, this week will be devoted to assembling and installing the water mitigation bridging on the Sprint Loop in front of the Nordic Shelter. A small group of workers will make this job lighter and quicker. Bring/wear the usual stuff, including gumboots. If you can attend any of the days, please contact Peter Cunningham (peter.petercunningham@gmail.com). Accommodation is available.

Note that a COVID plan for work parties will be provided to NPWS and requirements for volunteers attending will be circulated prior to the weekend.
