29 September 2016
NEW ANNOUNCEMENT: The 7.5 and 10km trails are now open for skiing. Conditions are excellent on all trails and the wind is not too bad.
Yesterday was an adventure. Despite the big effort put in by the groomer, the winds and constant snowfall created huge drifts within an hour. The roads were a challenge with a number of cars off the road. The squad acquired new skills of skating in deep snow around the sprint loop while those that ventured onto the trails chose classic technique for very practical reasons. It was a day to be aware of safety and not ski alone. Strong winds, poor visibility and unconsolidated snow with some surprisingly deep holes were some of the challenges.
Today the groomed trails are: Sprint, Valley, 2.5,3.5 and 5km. The wind will cause drifts but today looks to be a very skiable day.
Please DO NOT SKI the 7km or 10km today while the groomers rebuild these trails in daylight.
