Slowly but surely we are building the trail system with the snow we have been given - Valley trail is up and running and giving some good skiing, Vallhalla is groomed and ready and the 2.5km has some lovely stretches of groomed track mostly higher up but unfortunately interspersed with areas where there is thin cover and vegetation coming through. We have asked the grooming team to add to that list and build and groom the 3.5km as well as giving Valley and the 2.5km Trails a refresh overnight so we expect some good tracks to ski in the morning to accompany the promised sunshine and lighter winds. Further afield then the 5km and 7.5km were packed at the weekend and have good stretches of snow cover but still with gaps of vegetation - Touring Skis would be a good choice if you were to venture out that way. As ever we are making the most of what we have got but there is vegetation, rocks and water at points on all the trails so please ski with caution.
The Wilderness Sports Cup will take place on Wednesday July 15. The WSC is traditionally a warm up event for the NSWACT team and squad in preparation for the State Championships a week later. The team and squad members are currently attending the school holiday "on snow" training sessions. The WSC is not exclusive to the junior athletes, anyone is welcome to join in the fun. We will be assessing conditions tomorrow to see if there are sufficient safe trails to set a course.
