The Perisher XC Centre Trails and Conditions Report

What a difference a day makes. Despite our confidence of trails holding up for the Cooma open on Sunday, the lack of a freeze overnight and warm strong winds have contributed to the organisers having to make a late call to CANCELL THE COOMA OPEN.
It was still great day of skiing and the Cross Country Centre was buzzing. So many very young scouts and their families from Canberra, groups of older touring scouts dotted all around the trails, so many locals along with the athletes in training and a big celebration for K7, complete with cake and party poppers for its 10th Anniversary of holding the Faster Masters program.
Grooming for Sunday should see the 7km groomed and track set but only from the 5km at Valhalla to the other end of the 7km finishing at the bare steep hill before joining the other end of the 5km.
The 3.5km will have a very light groom with the Ginzu in an attempt to maintain the snow cover.
Still exciting news: There is one fun event on this Sunday.
1. The longest running event in the XC calendar will see the Junior Paddy Pallin start at 11:30 am. As always some great prizes and lots of fun. Enter on the day.
Older news but no less exciting News: The XC Ski week will go ahead starting on Saturday 1st August. The organisers are committed to holding events both skiable and social. The emphasis will be on enjoying the activity and simply making the best of what snow is available. To encourage everyone to participate, race entries for the PXC, Boonoona, Sundeck Handicap, and Snowy Mountains Classic will be refunded in full if a race is cancelled. Late fees may also be waived but it is preferable that skiers enter early to assist with pre race organisation.
The Night Relays and Mystery coffee tours are entry on the day. See the website for details of all events.
